Bapu
There is no skin colour anywhere in this face. The forehead is yellow, the cheek is orange, the jaw runs into red, and there is blue sitting under both eyes. None of it is what a face is made of, and all of it reads as one. The strokes are left where they landed — the direction of the brush is visible across the skull and down the shoulder — and nothing was gone over a second time to tidy it up.
Very little here is actually descriptive: the round glasses, the moustache, the shape of the head. Stand back and the face assembles itself. Walk up to it and it comes apart into strokes again.
