The Blue Lotus
There is no face here. The hands do all of it — one raised with the thumb and finger closed, one open below holding a lotus — and everything above the wrists is left out. The background is not really a background either. The same warm strokes that make the robe carry on into the space around him, so there is no line where he ends and the air begins. It is all one temperature.
Except for the lotus. It is the only cool colour on the canvas and the only shape with a clean edge. Everything else is brushed. Start there and follow the arm up to the raised hand.
Unframed, stretched on a wooden frame. Shipping within India included. International shipping quoted on enquiry. Sold with a signed certificate of authenticity.
