Anger never helps

· 1 min read

As you already know, I never had a fulfilling childhood. Limited means meant we had to go without many things we wanted and needed.

Growing up, we did not have a full length mirror at home. What we did have was a tiny 10 – inch long mirror with a curved top that was surrounded by a plastic frame and supported at the back with cardboard. Cherished it was, as it was a luxurious item.

One day, my brother and I got into a fight (as siblings do). In my fit of anger, I smashed the mirror. Scared by the aggression, my brother ran off. It felt good, for I found a vent for my feelings. But the next instant was wrought with guilt and shame. That was the only mirror at home, and nobody knew I had smashed it to smithereens.

Since I had started earning small amounts of money by then, I went to the shop, bought another one exactly like it, and put it in its place. Nobody was any wiser.

This incident taught me a lesson that I shall never forget. Anger never brings about positive results. What we do in a fit of anger will only cause guilt and remorse later. Decisions taken with a calm and composed mind always have the best outcomes.
