Handy device for your sick child

Children fall ill all the time. They have the worst sense of hygiene, and will bob along to the closest thing and create a mess. They have an uncanny knack of finding stuff to make a mess of! Indubitably, this leaves parents on their toes all the time. But such shenanigans expose children to many germs. Their immune systems have not yet developed. They can easily get affected by something we might consider insignificant.
When a child falls sick, he is irritable and not himself. He needs a lot of rest and proper care to bounce back as soon as possible. But, most of the care irritates the child further. They hate taking medicines and doing anything except clinging to their mothers. The best way is to help them go to sleep and make sure they are not disturbed.
If your child is sick and down with a fever, the last thing you will want to do is to wake them from their rest just to take their temperature. But thanks to advances in technology, this is no longer an issue for parents. Blue Spark unveiled its intelligent thermometer, TempTraq, at CES 2015 this year, and the good news is that it is now available in retail.
Blue Spark, a developer of thin, flexible products for printed electronic systems, describes TempTraq as a “wearable, intelligent Bluetooth thermometer in the form of a soft patch” that monitors body temperature around the clock.
TempTraq is powered by Blue Spark’s patented, printed flexible battery and includes a free downloadable Apple or Android app. It allows parents to keep a close watch on their child’s temperature without having to continually disturb them!
Users press the “start” button to activate the thermometer and connect it to the app via a provided code. As long as the caregiver is within range of the thermometer, they can review data and receive alerts up to 40 feet away. They then can apply the thin, flexible patch thermometer to the underarm of the child, similar to an adhesive bandage, the company says.
TempTraq measures temperatures between 86.0°F and 108.3°F. The app displays both real time and historical temperature data, transmitted from the patch in graphical or tabular view, making it possible for caregivers to see fluctuations.
Parents will also be in a position to set the device such that the app will be able to share temperatures in case it goes beyond a certain value. Parents can also keep track of the time when the child has food and medicine to keep better track of their child’s recovery. Granted, it’s not necessarily the be-all-end-all of medical devices, but it works like a rather chic gadget and sounds worth considering.
The Bluetooth thermometer is at a relatively affordable immediate $25. Thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, the parents will be able to monitor the temperature of the child, without interrupting their rest.
